At Rock Creek Wellness, we are passionate about training the next generation of compassionate, ethical, and skilled mental health professionals. We offer internship opportunities for both Bachelor’s (BSW) and Master’s level students seeking meaningful, hands-on experience in a supportive private practice setting.
About Our Practice
Rock Creek Wellness is a growing outpatient mental health practice and wellness center serving adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. Our team is committed to providing high-quality, individualized care to a diverse client population facing a wide range of mental health challenges.

What You’ll Experience
Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, interns will gain real-world experience in a clinical setting. Opportunities include:

Case management and client support

Assisting with intake assessments and consultations

Psychoeducation and group facilitation
-
Clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans)
-
Coordination with providers and community resources
-
Participation in team meetings and supervision
​
Master’s level interns may also have the opportunity to provide individual therapy sessions.
​
Please note: interns are expected to assist with administrative and clerical tasks as part of the private practice environment.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Internship
We also offer a specialized DBT Internship Program, providing in-depth training in evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation and complex mental health challenges.

Program Highlights:

Training in the full DBT model (Linehan-informed)
-
Weekly DBT skills groups (observation → co-facilitation → teaching)

Individual DBT therapy experience
-
Participation in DBT consultation team
-
Exposure to phone coaching and real-world application of DBT skills
Interns may also work with non-DBT outpatient clients during their placement.

Schedule & Duration:

7–9 month placement (based on school requirements)
-
18–20 hours per week

Flexible scheduling around academic commitments
Qualifications
-
Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s program (social work, counseling, psychology, or related field)

Strong interest in a career in mental health
-
Excellent communication and organizational skills
-
Foundational knowledge of mental health concepts and evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT)
-
Willingness to engage in supervision, feedback, and self-reflection
